At Race Entry, we know how important it is to get your race out there and get as many participants as possible. We have created some great marketing tools to help you grow your race. Using these tools will help you maximize your participants and continually keep their loyalty.
Word of mouth is a powerful resource in growing your races. The referral program gives each runner a unique link after they register for your race that appears in their confirmation email. The confirmation email also has all the social share buttons that automatically incorporates their unique link, so the participants can share your event and begin earning money with the click of a button. The participant can then share this link with anyone. Once someone signs up using their shared link, the participant will get a credit back to the payment method they used to register. This can be any amount and be set as a percentage or a dollar amount.
When this feature is being used the confirmation email will say “Participate for FREE When You Refer Friends”. It will then show them exactly how much they can get back when they use their referral link. Each category can also be set up to offer a different amount. You can even offer an automatic discount to the people who sign up using a participants referral link.
To set this feature up, you can go to “Growth Tools” from your dashboard, then “Referral System”. Here it shows all of the categories that you have set up and then you can select exactly what amounts your participants can get back. This page also shows how much money and how many participants were received from the referral program. You can even drill in and see which participants referred which participants.
Social media is a huge influence in everyday life. We offer a feature that allows you to incentivize your participants to share your race on their social media. A social media post has the potential to be seen by hundreds, or thousand of people. If you get a few participants to share your race, you can gain many more participants.
Many platforms have social media integration that only get a 1% click rate. With our unique social media discount feature we are averaging over 30% of our attendees clicking to share on social media. You can customize exactly how much of a discount you want to offer to each participant who shares. Some other things that can be customized are the title, description, and the image. You can choose exactly what you want the shared post to say.
Everyone loves a good deal. By setting up various promo codes, you can incentivize participants to sign up. A promo code can be totally customized and you can share select promo codes with the select people you want to use them. For example, if you as the race director have family or friends that want to sign up, you can set up a promo code like, “FamilyFriend30” and offer them 30% off. You can choose exactly what the promo code is and what the amount they can get off of their registration is.
We also have a feature you can use that can incentivize groups of people to sign up together. You could set it up to be, 10% off when four or more people sign up under the same order. These discount amounts and minimum participants required for the group discount are totally customizable.
Corporate discounts are also available for you to set up. These could be set up for companies who are sponsoring your event, or for large employers in your area. When you set up a company for a corporate discount you can even have validation that only people in that company get the discount. This is done by either uploading the emails from the organization, so that only people with very specific email addresses can claim discount codes, or you can simply have Race Entry set up to validate on domain in an email. For example if you have Intel as a sponsor you may want every email address that ends in intel.com to get a discount. Only people that actually have an address that has the right email ending would be able to have the promo codes sent to them after they go to make their discount request. This makes it far easier for you to make sure that there is not promo code abuse with one-time use promo codes, and you no longer have to make the codes yourself. Our system makes this all automated when you turn on our corporate discount feature on. This is also a great way to get more sponsors for your event. Often when you have a corporate wellness partner that gets discounts to your race that relationship can lead to sponsorship of your event.
We understand that people get busy and may forget to finish up the task they are doing before they are whisked away to do something else. We have a feature that will automatically send out an email after a cart has been abandoned. The participant who started a registration will receive an email with the subject line of, “Let Us Help You Finish What You Started”. The email also contains a link that takes them directly to their cart that they had left. This email is a great way to re-engage an interested runner and get them to finish their registration. On average we see over 20% of abandoned carts get completed with our automated incomplete registration reminder feature.
When your race registration form is created in advance of it opening, a countdown clock will appear on the page that shows when registration will open. Your participants will see this clock and even have the option to input their email address for a notification when registration opens. This feature helps you to have a bigger opening registration day, and it builds your email list for you throughout the year. You have people visiting your website all year, so why not build your email list while your form is closed. Sometimes a runner may forget about the date so the email is a great reminder (especially for visitors to your site that may not be in your email list).
Since participants can enter their email address, you also have the opportunity to communicate via email. We have created a mass mailer for you to email all of your participants at once. You can also email runners from previous years. It is very important to communicate with your runners to keep them updated on all of the race’s information and create an effective email marketing strategy.
