GutCheck Stratton Race Description
MORE THAN A BIKE.
MORE THAN A RUN.
A UNIQUE JOURNEY ACROSS RUGGED, BEAUTIFUL TERRAIN
There are enough running and cycling races out there. How about a true test of your wits, determination and conditioning? The storied GutCheck Adventure Race is coming to Vermont in August 2026. Like the Cape Cod GutCheck race, each year the GutCheck Stratton course will be different — and no one knows exactly what it will be until minutes before the race!
Don’t miss out… join the field this year!
HOW IT WORKS:
TO WIN, YOU NEED TO BE MORE THAN JUST FAST
Until shortly before the race, all you’ll know about this year’s GutCheck Stratton is that it will combine running, cycling and orienteering. You will present yourself at designated checkpoints along the way. Expect a finishing time of 2.5 to 4 hours. Whether you compete solo or with a group of your friends (teams of 2, 3 or 4 persons — everyone races the entire course together), the objective is to use your wits and fitness to scramble your way (and, at times, it will be a scramble!) to the finish.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE?
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
COMPETE WITH FRIENDS…OR GO SOLO
Prepare yourself for this event by training to be capable of running and mountain biking for up to four hours. Hill climbing by both bike and foot are an essential part of this race — but don’t worry, there are plenty of flat or gentle downhill stretches too!
There are four race categories: solo, two-person, three-person and four-person. All members of a team must remain in close contact and finish at the same time.
