Join us for the first annual Hikin' Dave's Knox Cannon 5K being held at the Moses Scout Reservation. This 5K run will take participants along the scenic Knox Cannon Trail exploring large portions of Western Massachusetts Council's flagship property. The Moses Scout Reservation, comprised of over 1,200 acres of wilderness, attracts hundreds of Scouts from throughout the Northeast each year.
This 5K run is being held as a tribute and memorial for David Sauriol (Hikin' Dave), a long time Scout Leader from Troop 168 out of Monson, MA. In 2015 he passed away unexpectedly leaving behind his wife, two Eagle Scout sons, and four daughters.
In life, Hikin' Dave was a self described adventurer who led numerous Boy Scout outings including hikes, bike rides, and paddles in the scenic Berkshires, White Mountains, and on the Delaware River. He especially enjoyed hiking, having completed the Appalachian Mountain Club's 100 highest mountains list. It is in this love of the outdoors and his support of the Scouting movement that we dedicate this charity run in his memory.
