Provo Pride Rainbow Run 5k

Want to support local LGBTQIA+/SSA youth and run/walk a 5K marathon? Or perhaps you are not a runner, but you want to support the cause? On Friday September 14, Spectrum: Queer Student Alliance at UVU and Understanding Same-Gender Attraction (USGA) will be hosting our Annual Provo Pride Rainbow Run/Walk at 6 pm at the Provo River Trail.

All proceeds from the Provo Pride Rainbow Run will go to these two local LGBTQIA+/SSA college organizations: Understanding Same-Gender Attraction (USGA), an unofficial group of Brigham Young University students, faculty and guests; and Spectrum: Queer Student Alliance at UVU, a student-led club of LGBTQIA+ students at Utah Valley University.

College is often a hard transition for LGBTQIA+/SSA youth and making sure that these organizations have the resources to support these students is very important. You can show your support by doing the following:

A. Registering under Runner Entry and then either walking or running the 5K course.

or

B. Registering under the term Spirit Runner. The designation of Spirit Runner is for those who want to participate and donate but are not able to run the actual race. To register someone as a Spirit Runner, submit the name of the person (this person can be someone who cannot run, someone who is deceased, or someone who is otherwise unable to attend the event). The name of the person you choose will be attached to a runner's bib. These special runners will be running for their own and on behalf of the person whose name you submitted.

Spectrum: Queer Student Alliance at UVU serves as a supportive community for all individuals, no matter what sexual orientation or gender identity/expression they identify with. This club strives to provide a safe social environment on-campus, in the classroom, and off-campus for students, staff and members of the surrounding community. To the best of its ability, the club provides physical and mental health education, advocacy, and social support. Spectrum's objective is to ensure that every student in the broader queer community be granted the same freedoms, opportunities and social justices as all others at UVU as they pursue their academic goals.

Understanding Same-Gender Attraction (USGA) is an unofficial group of Brigham Young University students, faculty and guests who wish to strengthen families and the BYU community by providing a place for open, respectful discussions on the topic of same-gender attraction and LGBTQ issues.
