There are many different types of races in Utah of all different distances and varieties. Whether you are looking for Utah marathons, Utah half marathons, Utah 5K's, Utah 10K's, or any other Utah race distance, you can find what you are looking for below:

Utah Races

Utah’s landscape is inspiring. From snowy mountains in northern Utah to the stunning red rock in southern Utah, it’s no surprise that Utahns like to be outdoors. You can enjoy many different types of races – from 5Ks and fun runs to marathons, triathlons, and bike races.

Below is your guide to the biggest races in Utah.

Utah Marathons

Utah hosts many marathons throughout the year. Many of these marathons include other distance options, which makes it easy to find the distance you want to run at the biggest races in Utah.

• Sun Marathon – In January, run through Santa Clara just outside of St. George. This race also offers half marathon, 10K, and 5K distances
• Sand Hollow Marathon – In March, enjoy a run through southern Utah. You can opt for the marathon or the half marathon.
• Salt Lake City Marathon – Run through Salt Lake City in April. If a marathon isn’t your distance, you can opt to run the half, 10K, or 5K. The Salt Lake City Marathon also offers a kids run and a bike tour.
• Thelma & Louise Marathon – Run through Moab in April. This race also includes a 15K, half marathon, and 50K.
• Ogden Marathon – In May, you can run the Ogden Marathon. This race also includes a half marathon, a relay, an 8-mile, and a 5K. It hosts a kids run, too.
• Utah Valley Marathon – Run down Provo Canyon in June. This race also includes a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids run.
• Deseret News Marathon – In July, you can support local journalism by running the Deseret News Marathon. It also includes a half marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1K.
• Skyline Mountain Marathon – Run across the mountain tops in August. This Eden race also offers a 55K, 30K, and half marathon.
• Mt. Nebo Marathon – In September, run along Mount Nebo near Provo. The Mt. Nebo Marathon also includes a half marathon, 10K, or 5K.
• Big Cottonwood Marathon – Run down the Big Cottonwood Canyon in September. You can also opt for the half marathon instead of the full.
• St. George Marathon – Run through St. George in October. Whether you run the full marathon, half marathon, or 5K, you’ll enjoy seeing southern Utah. There’s even a kids run to make this event family-friendly.
• Moab Trail Marathon – Run through Moab in southern Utah in November. You can also opt for the half marathon or 10K.
• Arches Marathon – Enjoy Arches National Park at this October race. It also includes half marathon, 15K, and 50K distances to choose from.

Utah Half Marathons

Many of Utah’s marathon races also include half marathon distances. Other Utah races emphasize the half marathon distance.

• Dogtown Half Marathon – Run through Washington City in January. You can opt for the half marathon, 5K, or kids race.
• Zion Half Marathon – Enjoy a half marathon through Zion National Park in February.
• Canyonlands Half Marathon – Run through the Canyonlands in central Utah in March. You can also opt for a 5-mile run at this Moab race.
• Clear Creek Half Marathon – Run through Clear Creek Canyon in May. Opt for the half marathon, 10K, or 5K.
• Beaver Canyon Half Marathon – Enjoy this June race through Beaver Canyon in southern Utah near several national parks. You can also opt for the 10K instead of the half marathon.
• Cedar City Half Marathon – Run through Cedar City in September. You can choose either the half marathon or 5K distance.
• The Haunted Half – Celebrate Halloween with a themed half marathon in Provo. The Haunted Half also includes a 5K and a kids run.
• Mountain View Trail Half Marathon – Run past wild buffalo on Antelope Island in the middle of the Great Salt Lake. You can do a half marathon or 50K at this race.

Utah Turkey Trots

Utah also hosts several Turkey Trots that you can enjoy with your family on Thanksgiving.

• Runtastic THANKFUL – Run along the Jordan River Trail and opt for half marathon, 10K, or 5K distances. THANKFUL also hosts a kids run.
• Lynden Legacy Turkey Trot – Enjoy this 5K run or walk that benefits the Lynden Legacy Foundation in Midway.
• Eagle Mountain Turkey Trot – Run, walk, cycle, or scooter your way along this 3.12 mile course in Eagle Mountain. You can even bring your pet along as long as it’s leashed.
• Lindon City Turkey Trot – Enjoy a 5K or fun run organized by Lindon Recreation.
• Earn Your Turkey Thanksgiving Run – Enjoy this race in Orem and the opportunity to win turkeys and pies. Choose from a 4-mile run or a 2-mile fun walk. There are also kids races at this event.

Utah Clubs & Race Series

Utah is also home to several running and cycling clubs and race series, which makes it easy to find community and support for physical activity.

• RUN SLC – Keep leveling up by competing in this series of three races starting with a February 5K, a March 10K, and an April 15K.
• Top of Utah Runners – Participate in a marathon, 15K, 10K, or 5K at various races organized throughout the year in Cache Valley.
• Salt Lake City Track Club – Enjoy weekly runs with the club year-round and The Original Race Series. The Original Race Series includes a 5K, 10K, and 15K.
• Cirque Series – While this race series organizes races in the mountains across the US, Utah mountains feature in several of the races including the July Snowbird race and the August Alta race.
• Utah’s Weekly Race Series – Over the summer enjoy these weekly bike races around Heber City, Midway, and Sundance Resort. Some of these races include a kids race, so you can have fun with your family.
• BikeUtah Mid Week MTB and Fat Bike Series – Enjoy winter and summer bike races geared for many ages and experience levels.
• Utah Gravity Series – Mountain bike downhill at three different races – Sundance and Brian Head in Utah and Pomerelle in Idaho.
• Utah Cycling Association – Enjoy bike races and events during spring and summer.
• Bonneville Cycling Club – Connect with the cycling community and enjoy rides and discounts for various races.
• Wasatch Trail Run Series – Enjoy trail runs in various locations throughout the Wasatch Mountains.
• South Davis Race Series – Participate in races throughout the year in Bountiful. Races include Thanksgiving day, Valentine’s day, indoor and outdoor triathlons, and more.

Utah Bike Races

The Rocky Mountains make Utah a prime destination for mountain bikers. Utah has several bike races throughout the year.

• Moab Rocks – In April, enjoy a 3-day mountain bike race through Moab.
• Cache Gran Fondo – In July, enjoy a bike race in northern Utah, Choose from several distances, including 35, 50, 75, and 100 miles.
• Salt to Saint Relay – Get your team together for this September bike relay from Salt Lake to St. George.
• Little Red Riding Hood – Enjoy this June women’s bike ride in Lewiston. You can choose your distance, including 17, 30, 55, 70, and 100 miles.
• WOMAN OF STEEL TRIATHLON & 5K – In this American Fork race, choose to compete in a sprint triathlon, aquabike, or 5K.
