K9s and Kilometers Race Description
K9s and Kilometers is a 1 mile run with your dog or 5 kilometers run/walk (without your dog). The purpose of the run is to benefit animal organizations in the area that are dedicated to improving the lives of homeless pets and to making Utah a no-kill state (NKUT). The funds raised from this event will go to benefit two amazing community partners who are working towards these goals - the Best Friends Animal Society* and Healing Hearts Veterinary Clinic**. The run is organized by the Salt Lake Rotaract Club, a Rotary International (RI) Club, whose mission is to create lasting, positive change in our Salt Lake community.

You and Your Dog: What could be more fun than running on a Saturday morning with animal lovers like yourself!? Or having the opportunity to run with your dog!? Grab your shoes and leashes and get ready to join a great cause while making new friends! . You get a T-Shirt and a bag of goodies too!
*Best Friends Animal Society is dedicated to making Utah a no kill state (NKUT); ending the stigma of pit bull breeds; Catch, Neuter, & Release cat programs; rescuing animals from natural disasters; and reducing the number of animals that end up in shelters. They have a large animal sanctuary in Southern Utah and many shelters across the country. Their signature event, Strut Your Mutt, was founded right here in Salt Lake City!
**Healing Hearts Veterinary Clinic is dedicated to ensuring the cost of important medical attention to pets does not cause individuals to have to re-home their beloved family members. They believe everyone deserves a ‘best friend’ regardless of income level. Healing Hearts works with the Pet Samaritan Fund to significantly reduce the cost of veterinary care for low-income families. They also have an amazing medicine donation program to provide pet medication to families who need it.
