Jogging for Jo 5k Fun Run

Please join us in Jogging for Jo, a 5k run/walk on Saturday, June 8, 2019. Jogging for Jo is a fundraising event and celebration in honor of Josiah Boulet. The race will take place in Forest Park, Richmond Hill, Queens at 9 am. 

This race is to honor the beloved memory of Josiah Boulet, a member of the OLQMCA family. He passed away in December of 2018 from diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a rare form of brain cancer. About 10% to 20% of all childhood brain tumors are DIPG or brainstem gliomas, and they usually occur in children ages 5-10. At this time there is no cure for this tumor. The brain tumor team at St. Jude along with colleagues at many other pediatric brain tumor programs across the U.S. will continue to strive toward finding a cure for patients with DIPG. This is an important cause we want to raise awareness and funds for, through this run, so more research could be done to hopefully one day find a cure. Proceeds from the event will go to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. You can dedicate your donation in Josiah's name. 

Josiah loved running and even ran competitively on a track and field team in the community. He loved the color green and staying active through other sports like basketball as well. He enjoyed being around others and spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved dancing, especially to songs like Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars. Josiah would have turned 12 this June, so this is a day we will celebrate Josiah's life and all the things he loved with family, friends, teachers, and classmates.
