Jersey City Triathlon Race Description
Citytri Racing invites you to join us on Sunday, August 21st for the Second Annual Jersey City Triathlon, a Sprint and Olympic Distance Triathlon with what we consider the best view on the planet. Swim in the Hudson River and bike through the historic colonial streets of downtown JC and open roads in Liberty State Park with views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Then run along the waterfront passed the famous Colgate Clock and with the incomparable view of downtown Manhattan. Race to the finish at Exchange Place This is exactly what defines a "staycation" for any athletes in the metropolitan area and for anyone coming from elsewhere it's the BEST way to visit the area. Citytri will donate a percentage of the proceeds to the Jersey City Youth Foundation making this an even more meaningful event. Volunteers and JC's finest will be there to get you through a historic event. No excuses now so sign up before it's too late.

The race was canceled two weeks before race day in 2017. I got an email from active.com stating i received a refund for the race. I tried calling/texting/emailing the race organization and nobody ever responded to me. Finally, two weeks after i received that email notifying me that i received a refund, i was able to get in touch with someone that said the race was canceled because the road course was not approved by the city...terrible communication with its participants at this organization.
I'm happy with my results, but the organization is poor. The swiming started late because there was no dock to enter into the water, then the participants had to help to intall it. The bike track is opened to traffic and made the race very very dangerous, I saw a guy falling over to end 2 feet from the wheel of a car. Overall the race is Ok, the view is unique, but it will be nice to close the traffic
