CamSTRONG 5K

The CamSTRONG 5K Fun Walk/Run, and Family 1K will be held on June 11th, 2016 at Jensen Nature Park in Syracuse (3176 S Bluff Rd).  The 5K Walk Run will begin at 9am, and the Kids 1K will begin at 9:15am.  All proceeds will go the the Talbot family.  SUPERHERO COSTUMES ENCOURAGED!!

Here is Cam's story written by his mom, Karen:  
On February 5th, 2016, Camron Talbot, 9 years old was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma, a rare and aggressive type of Cancer. Camron’s symptoms came on very quickly. By the time he was rushed into surgery they said his tumor was the size of a grapefruit and it had only been there for about three weeks. This tumor can double in size in just 24 hours so there was a lot that happened in just the first few weeks. The good news with this Cancer is as aggressive as it is to grow, is as aggressive how it responds. After his first round of chemo he was declared tumor free and in remission. Camron will receive his last round of chemo after all of his scans are performed and we are hoping and praying that he will remain in remission.
Camron is the most kind-hearted, easy going, fun, (he would tell you cool and legit), and has one of those faces that melts your heart. I would have never imagined just how strong and tough he is, he has been our daily inspiration. Everyone at the hospital just loved to take care of Camron because he never complained and always cooperated with any type of procedure. If you ask him how he is doing, his reply was always, “I’m good.” And when he would ask what was being done the next day and we would tell him Intrathecal (into the spine) chemo his response would be, “Just another back poke?” His positive attitude has carried us all through this.
Camron loves to play any kind of sport but his favorite by far is Baseball, then Football, and basketball. He loves to ride his bike, play with his brothers, cousins, and buddies. He is a very active boy and it is hard to keep him down, unless we give him Lego’s to play with. 
Our journey has only just begun we realize that, they tell us that the worst is behind us. There will be many days, many scans, many labs drawn but we will continue to ensure that our Camron will stay with us. We thank all those that have given us their thoughts, their prayers, their undeniable love. We have felt your presence all along and have never doubted your faith along with ours.
Through this journey we have endured many new adventures, grown together as a family, realized all the good out there in the world, and have become so grateful for every moment that we have together. This has made us tough, this has made us stronger, and this has humbled us all for the rest of our lives.
