Welcome to Braveheart's Second annual Dog Walk of the Dead Zombie 5k!
ABOUT THE RACE
The Second Annual Braveheart Dog Walk of the Dead Zombie 5k will be held at 5pm on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Texas Live! in support of Braveheart Animal Rescue. Share a fun morning with us at Texas Live! and Richard Green Linear Park where Zombies have taken over and only the brave will survive! Make your way through the trails and avoid having your flags taken by zombie's that are running the race too! You have 3 options to sign up for:
Human Runner - Complete the race with the fastest time while trying to avoid the zombies and dodge the zombie roamers. Human runners will wear a survival belt with 3 flags on it, with the goal of finishing the race with all the flags. Those that finish with at least 1 flag will finish as a Survivor and those that finish without any flags finish as an infected zombie.
Zombie Roamers - NO FEE FOR ROAMERS unless they want a t-shirt. Roamer shirt cost $10. These roamers are providing interference and also are trying to grab flags from the humans. Roamers will be limited to a specifically assigned area.
All runner participants will take home a finisher's medal based on finishing as a Survivor or Infected. Fun awards will also be given to participants with the best Human and best dog zombie costume, The highest fundraising team and more to be determined later. Check back for updates!
The third option is to sign up for our 1 mile dog walk/fun run. Dogs are allowed on this 1 mile walk/run.
There will be a fun after party at Texas Live! in The Backyard, with live music, different vendors and other fun activities. Enjoy food from any of the restaurants that are part of Texas Live! Check-in will be at 4pm. Spectators are welcome to hang out in the Backyard or watch along the route of the race but watch out for Zombies!
All proceeds raised benefit Braveheart Animal Rescue's mission to Rescue animals from local animal shelters, focusing on "Code Red" (at-risk and injured) animals in need of immediate attention and to Educate the public on the importance of Spay & Neuter programs and all the low-cost options available in our community. They rescue unwanted, abandoned, injured, or ill companion animals -- primarily from "high kill" shelters and owner surrenders. They place these animals in foster homes where they can receive proper veterinary care, rehabilitation, and rest in order to prepare them to go to their forever homes. Their intention is to work within our community and educate pet owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their companion animals in order to assist with the reduction of unwanted animals. They also focus on programs that educate both our community and potential adopters on the fact that animals are a lifelong commitment -- and to help them realistically prepare for that commitment.

4:00 pm: Texas Live! Backyard venue opens for spectators
5:00 pm: 5k Start Time
5:30 pm: 1 Mile Dog Walk of The Dead Fun run Start Time
6:00 pm: After Party begins
7:00 pm: Approximate end time for race.
12:00 am: End Time for after party.
**No Dogs allowed during the 5k Run. Dogs will only be allowed on the 1 Mile Fun Run and at the after party**

Registration will begin at 4pm the evening of the race (October 26th, 2019).
After the race is completed there will be an after party at Texas Live! in the Backyard. Please join us for some live music, vendors, good food and drinks (at participants own expense at any of the restaurants on site) and other fun activities. Dogs will be allowed inside the venue (please be mindful and pickup after your pooch if they have an accident. Dog sitters will be available as well).
Free parking will be available in the Texas Live! venue parking lot only. Any other parking is at your own risk.
The Braveheart Dog Walk of The Dead 5k will take place rain or shine! Only in extreme cases, will the event get postponed or canceled. Should severe weather be a problem, please check our website for any changes.
