Wolverine State 100 Ultra & Relay
Wolverine State 100 Ultra & Relay Race Description
From Lake Michigan to Lake Huron—The Journey Continues
After an unforgettable debut in 2025, Wolverine State 100 returns for year two on October 10–11, 2026.
Runners, relay teams, and crews will once again take on the rare chance to cross Michigan’s Lower Peninsula from lake to lake, racing from Petoskey to Alpena on a route built for grit, beauty, and pure endurance.
Choose your challenge:
- 100 Mile – The full Lake-to-Lake journey, point-to-point across the state.
- 100 K – A point-to-point test of strength that starts at Tomahawk Lake Campground and finishes in Alpena.
- 50 K – An early Sunday Morning out-and-back from Alpena with smooth surfaces, generous cutoffs, and the same Wolverine spirit.
- 100 Mile Relay – Team up and conquer the distance together.
Expect a mix of singletrack trail, gravel and limestone roads, and quiet seasonal roads through Northern Michigan’s forests and farm country. Trails are technical; expect roots, rocks, and leaves that require concetration and reward you with pure Michigan trail running. You'll run on packed dirt, sandy seasonal roads, grass, and pavement. Aid stations every 5–8 miles will keep you fueled, supported, and moving toward the Huron shore.
While no 100-miler is ever “easy,” Wolverine is designed to be challenging yet approachable—a race that welcomes first-timers and rewards veterans alike. Finishers earn custom awards, with special recognition for those who break the 24-hour barrier on the 100-mile course.
The Wolverine community made history in its first year. In 2026, we’ll keep building it—one mile, one finisher, and one wild adventure at a time.
