About Us:

The Sumaira Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to generating global awareness of NMOSD* and MOG-AD*, supporting research to find a cure, and creating a community of support for patients + their caregivers.

Neuromyelitis optica (NMO), Devic’s disease or neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) are different names for the same condition. NMO is an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in different locations of the central nervous system (CNS).

Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotien is a variation that is associated with a different antibody called MOG

What is the Unicorn Dash?

The Unicorn Dash is A virtual 5k (3.1 miles) that allows the opportunity for all bodies to participate, regardless of ability. Participants will complete a 5k by walking, running, strolling, or supporting someone running in a patient's honor (NMOSD/MOGad patient.) 

When is the Unicorn Dash?

Participants are welcome to complete the 5k in a single day, or any time from 

October 15th, 2022- November 25th 2022

How do I Donate/ Raise money?

Your donation comes from your registration fee! If you would like to have friends and family support you through donation whilst you complete your 5k, we will have our donation QR code at the end of this page.

How do I track my progress?

The Sumaira  Foundation will send you a sheet that will allow you to track your miles and donations.

Join our Group on Runkeeper! This app allows you to track distance, save miles logged, and see the progress of fellow participants. Once you register you will receive a link and instruction how to download and join.

Participants will all receive a Progress Tracker document via email. Participants should complete the miles form during and at the conclusion of 5k, and Email a photocopy back to:

Want to be a part of the Unicorn Dash video project?

Simply record your progress with a phone camera and email it to us.
