Run Germantown is a 5K race and activities organized by The One Less Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, headquartered in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia.
The race course this year starts and finishes at the red-brick lined promenade, Maplewood Mall and takes runners through some of the beautiful residential streets and business corridor of the Germantown neighborhood. Maplewood Mall is located off Armat St. between Germantown Ave. and Greene St.
In addition to the 5K race, there are activities for youth that include a half mile relay race (each runner will do approximately .12 of a mile), a hulu hoop contest, face painting and more.
In 2016, Run Germantown is hosted by a joint collaboration between The One Less Foundation, The Historic Johnson House, and True Way Youth Empowerment Foundation to benefit their education programs that serve the Philadelphia area. The One Less Foundation provides financial education, personal mentoring and supplemental education programs to adults, youth, schools and other organizations to help families in under-served communities build paths out of poverty. True Way YEF provides workshops and conferences to youth to build self-esteem, confidence and broaden their involvement in academic, social and physical health activities. The Historic Johnson House, an important stop on the Underground Railroad serves as a provider of educational services and programs to the general public, schools and other organizations to engage in discussions related to history and that lead to resolutions to some of today’s most pressing issues.
