Why

We started the “I Run For A Reason” virtual run/walk series to raise money and awareness for three distinct areas of personal interest: Conservation, Education, and Human Wellness. 25 percent of all the profits from all the races and merchandise sales will be given directly to organizations working on projects in these areas. The rest of the profit will be used to improve our products and fundraising efforts. We want to raise a million dollars to donate to organizations working to improve our world. We know the running community is willing to show immense generosity when given the opportunity.

What is a virtual run

The term virtual only refers to the fact that you can run your 5K anywhere. While we will be running from one of our project locations you can run from your hometown, your favorite trail, or in your favorite park. You can challenge friends and family from around the country to run with you and then connect via Facebook, Strava, or Runkeeper. You have a window of time to run and upload your results but the official race time is 9am local time the day of race. We will have a Facebook live start with runners from around the country for each start time. So yes...it is a real run, not something you do on the computer.

Check the mail for your race shirt (will arrive the first week of the race month).

Race Week

Time to get excited! Watch Facebook for last minute training/nutrition information. Check for the official start time. You have a window of time to upload your 5K results, but we have an official start time for each race, where I will actually run a 5K along with you. Get plenty of sleep and eat well!

Race  Day

Wake up early, do your thing, get ready. Check the start time, typically 9am local time. Sync with your group, pin on your bib, hit the starting area, watch the website for the countdown, run or walk your heart out!

Have a post race beverage while posting your time (competitive runners need to provide supporting evidence), wait for the after-party (on location from one of our projects), tune in on Facebook, hopefully... win an award!

After the Race

Stay connected on Facebook. We will continue to keep the group together. Join next month's race. There will be a race with this theme every three months, but we host one race a month, so technically you could run every month for a different cause, or run every three months to support outdoor education.
