Motor City Triathlon

Belle Isle is one of my favorite places. I've done several triathlons in other places and this course is fast and fun. I would love to make this a yearly thing...except. The weather was in the 80's. I expect during a 6 mile run in the heat I would have access to water/gatorade. But they stopped serving to the slower athletes. I was sweating and starting to cramp and had no fluids for the last 5k. That is dangerous. The finishers "medals" were these awkward, goofy, large wooden things. They look dumb when you put them on or hang them with your "real" medals. The post race food might have been great. I don't know because as one of the slower athletes- nobody seems to care that you exist. The food and drinks were whatever was left after being picked through. I'm sorry, but I paid the same race fees as the top finishers, I should get water on the course, refreshments after the race and a decent finishers medal.
