Mark Bancroft Memorial Run/Walk Race Description

So, what is a hybrid race??? We have no idea but that's what we are doing! A hybrid event is a run (or walk) from either any location you choose that is 5 Kilometers in length or 3.10686 miles or you can join us live at the Waubonsie Lake Trail and throw social distancing to the wind! By showing up, you enjoy all the benefits of our BBQ Cookout and socializing with all those people you had to stay away from for the last 15 months or so. Registration is quick and easy. You even have the ability to print out your own race bib that you can wear or get one from us at the race site! If you choose to participate virtually, you may run or walk your race anytime after you register up to and including Saturday, October 9, 2021! After your race is completed, you will need to email your times and the date your ran directly to Rick Marsh at richardmarsh2@aol.com. You are also encouraged to post a photo or video of your finish on the website. If you choose to join us live, please preregister on the website and join us on October 9, 2021 for race day registration at 9am and race kick off at 10:00am.

We will distribute all medals, shirts, and goody bags on October 9, 2021 in the Pavilion of Waubonsie Lake Trail:

For our virtual runners, if you can not stop by or if you are out of the area, please let either Phil or Rick know so we can make alternative arrangements to get you these items.

Fundraising Teams are a great way to promote yourself and the event. Consider forming your own team to increase participation and help those who are in need.

So what are you waiting for?? Sign up now using the Registration Link below and be counted in this years event. Remember, all profits will be donated following the end of the Race to our charities so the more we can raise, the more we give back! The timing couldn't be better during the season of giving!

Virtual 5K

Love this virtual stuff. I walked home after dropping my car off at the mechanic this morning and turned it into an opportunity to do this 5K.

Rosary 5K Leg

I ran from Rosary High School (sponsored by Dominican Sisters of Springfield) to Holy Angels Church (about 2.2 miles). I circumnavigated the Church counterclockwise (to turn back time & pick up a few seconds) to commemorate the Infinite and eternity before running another 0.9 mile heading back to Rosary. The race timer (me) screwed up. I probably ran 0.5 before I had my iWatch working properly so I docked my race organizational rating. I have no complaints about the course as I picked it. It was mostly flat and fast, except the initial leg south into fierce, chilling wind. I have pics but don't see how to upload.

Honor His Memory

Thank you to all those who participated in this 5K in memory of our dear son, Mark Bancroft. Whether you were able to join the crowd on site or did your Walk-Run in a place of your choosing, we truly appreciate everyone's effort and compassion in doing this to fund wonderful event sponsored by the Knights of Columbus of Holy Angels Parish and all the business sponsors who make this event possible and to add to our son's memory this way. -Julie and Darrel
