(race date estimated)Hill Country Challenge Race Description
Welcome to the third annual Hill Country Challenge Triathlon! We cannot believe another year has flown by!! Swimming not your thing? No worries! This unique triathlon, follows in the footsteps of the legendary Martindale triathlon, with the swim leg being replaced by a paddle leg. No doubts, we will have another year of happily unexpected obstacles thrown at you by Mother Nature to test the limits of your grit and ability! For those of you who have not yet experienced the joy of the Challenge, the race is staged out of the South Llano River State Park and boasts a rough and rugged 7 mile trail run followed by a 17 mile out and back bike that takes you on paved roads, into Junction via rolling hills and scenic views, turning around at our very own Lover's Leap and ending in a fast 5 mile paddle from the park down to the bridge in Junction's Schreiner Park. Plan to face it alone or grab a friend or two to join you! Categories include men's solo, women's solo, tandem (one person run, one person bike and both paddle together in a boat) or relay (one person per leg). Ages are 16 and up for solo participants and 14 and up for relay/tandem with one person on the team being over the age of 18. Helmets and lifejackets on board are required!
Please be sure to register by November 1, 2023 to guarantee shirt and size! Packet pick up will be Friday, November 17, 2023 from 530-730 (pm), location TBD. Following the race we will have food, drinks and awards. Come share with us in this time of friendly competition and small town entertainment!

Challenge for sure!
What a great event! Everybody involved was as friendly as could be. It was my first time and I entered as a relay. The weather was big challenge and caused the bike part to be cut a little short which was good safety wise. Will be competing again this year and looking forward to it!

What an experience 2022 was! It was our first run of the tri and with mother nature, one of the toughest courses we have done to date! The volunteers and race teams were so very helpful and encouraging. Plan to make it an annual event!!
