Berthoud Spartans 5k Race Description
Registration will close on June 1st at 11:59pm. After that you will have to come early and register on site!
Please join us for the annual Berthoud Spartans 5K. This race will take place on June 3rd, 2023. Start time is 8:00AM
All Ages Welcome!
While there are competitive racers running and this is a computer timed event, parents are welcome to bring strollers for little ones or leashed dogs.
Following the race, medals are awarded for the overall top Male and Female finisher, along with Male and Female athletes who place first, second, and third in the following 9 age categories in years:
7-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older.
Event Details and Schedule:
On-street parking is available near Town South/North baseball fields, at Ivy Stockwell, and on nearby residential side streets.
7:00 am - 7:45 am - Arrival of registrants. Pick up packets, Race Day Registrations available.
We DO NOT have pre-race packet pick up. Race participants must pick up their race packets at Town South area the morning of the race. This packet includes your numbered race bib, safety pins.
Cost for pre-race day registration is $30 for ages 11 years and up, $10 for children 7-10 years, and free for children 6 years or less. Same race day registration will be available on site with a $5 increase from Pre-Race Day Registrations per individual.
Description of the course: Starting line between Town South and North Berthoud Baseball Town Fields with a flat start, heading south. Continue past Ivy Stockwell west of 5th street. Path will decline with an immediate incline as you continue towards Spartan Avenue. Continue straight (south) across Spartan street. Continue the path heading South on the West side of 5th Street. Path continues downhill going south straight past Kansas to the T in which you’ll go west (right) at the T. Take the Slight left in the path and continue west as the path winds. Take a right when you hit the dirt path, with an incline and go north on the flat dirt path. Take a left At Kansas and head west on a flat path. Continue West on Kansas, flat path with a slight curve to the left. Take a left at the South end of Longview St. and head south. Connect with the concrete bike path and head west. Continue with a slight right bend then a slight left bend following the curvy bike path heading West. At the Y in the path, take a slight left then follow the path west. At the Y, take a slight left onto the sidewalk South of Greenwood St. Head West on Greenwood until Berthoud Parkway. Cross street and go right (north) on the sidewalk on the East side of Berthoud Parkway. Continue North as the path inclines uphill. When the sidewalk ends, continue flat heading North on the east side of the street on Berthoud Parkway. Cross Spartan Ave. heading North, then turn right (East) on the sidewalk on the North side of Spartan. Continue heading East along the north side of Spartan on a flat path. Cross 10th street and continue East past Berthoud high school. Take a left (head North) onto the sidewalk on the west side of 5th street. Continue North as the path declines and immediately inclines, heading towards the finish line between Town South and North Berthoud baseball Fields.

First Berthoud Spartans 5K
I am happy to see the annual Berthoud Day 5K return after the Covid hiatus. The new course on the south side of town was well marked and uncrowded, making the race pleasant instead of stressful. Though the course length was not certified (hint for next year), the finishing times indicate the distance was fairly accurate. I'll be back again!
