Ashland Half Marathon Race Description
The 7th annual Ashland Half Marathon and a new 5 Mile Road Race is set for Saturday, October 27, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m. The races will start and finish at Marathon Park, the original start line location of the Boston Marathon from 1897 through 1923.
The Ashland Half Marathon race course features scenic rolling hills traversing Ashland town roads and a loop through the beautiful Hopkinton State Park during the peak fall foliage season. The Half Marathon and 5 Mile race will run together for the first five miles in a loop course through the residential Ashland neighborhoods.

Friday, October 26th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. (lower level at the back parking lot entrance)
Saturday, October 27th from 8:00 to 9:45 a.m. (front entrance on the first level of the VFW)
Race Start: 10 a.m. – Half Marathon & 5 Mile will start simultaneously at Marathon Park. The Half Marathon course will be open for 3 hours.
Race bib number and packet pick-up will be at the VFW located at 311 Pleasant Street, Ashland.
Post-race party: 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. – post-race lunch and beverages provided to all participants and family fun activities for kids
Awards: Top 3 Overall Male and Female in the Half Marathon will be presented with special Ashland Half Marathon awards approximately at 1 pm. The Top 3 finishers in each age group will receive awards in the mail post-event. The Top 3 Overall Male and Female in the 5 Mile race will receive awards in the mail post-event.
Amenities: Half Marathon participants receive a beanie, a finisher medal, refreshments, and post-race lunch. 5 Mile participants receive a winter running beanie, finisher medal, refreshments and post-race lunch.
Results: Finisher results and age group placing will be available on the race website post-event and on Coolrunning.com. The results will be chip-timed with the overall and age group awards measured by gun-time.
Course: The new Half Marathon and 5 Mile Race courses will be wheel-measured for accuracy. Course maps will be announced soon!
Hydration & Energy Stations: The Half Marathon will have at least six hydration stations along the course with water and Gatorade available and one Energy Gel station on the course located in the Hopkinton State Park at approximately the 8 mile mark. The 5 Mile race will have one hydration station located just after 3 miles and at the finish line.

Do not sign up for this race. It is a scam. They cancelled the race in 2018 and said our registrations would be good for the race in 2019. Then they disappeared off the face of the earth. Both the Ashland Half Marathon and the Ashland Sporting Good Association websites went down. We received no further communication about the 2019 race. I tried emailing them but the emails came back undeliverable. Two weeks before the 2019 "race date" someone put up a new Ashland Half Marathon website but the email address on that site is also invalid and returns undeliverable. I know I will never see my $130 race fee (for 2 people) again but I want to make sure no one else falls for this scam.

Apparently the race has been canceled for 2019 and no official notification was sent out. If you contact Ashland Sporting Association they will give you Steve Greenberg's phone number. You can also email Steve at steveg@oakrealtyma.com and he will send a check to the address you gave when you signed up. This used to be my favorite race, it's a shame that it has become this poorly run.
