5K Run for Homelessness and Hunger Race Description

5K Run (USATF Certified Course)  will begin at 8:00am on Monroe Street between Spraggins and Jefferson Street at east of back corner of Railroad Station Antiques; it will also end there.  The proceeds from the run will help the Community Service Center to continue to provide food and clothing to homeless individuals and families in need, as well as veterans; and expand service to include assisting individuals periodically with paying rent, utilities or a car payment, local transportation, and assistance with furniture.  In 2017, we provided food and clothing to over 1100 families; in 2018 we served over 2300, with proceeds from the 5K Run in 2018 we have now provided $3500 in financial assistance to more than 20 families; food, clothing, and mental health counseling to approximately 1000 individuals, families, and veterans.  Our services have helped families moved off the street, have food in their pantry, and clothes for their children or for them to go to work.  We hope to continue to expand our services in the community. The winners for this 5K Run will received 1st, 2nd and 3rd place monetary prizes (Male and Female).  Bib numbers and bags are to be picked up at Fleet Feet Huntsville, AL.
