Valkyrie Relay - Durango

OVERVIEW 

The Valkyrie Multisport Relay is the Intermountain West's premiere multi-sport relay race, spanning over 100 miles of spectacular mountains, lakes, trails, and municipal & country by-ways in majestic destinations such as: Wasatch Back (UT), Durango (CO), Coeur d'Alene (ID), Donner Pass (CA), Lake Havasu City (AZ), and Bozeman (MT). The event pits teams of up to 9 (3 - 9) specialized competitors against each other, racing against the clock and exchanging between trail running, kayak/canoe paddling, marathon, mountain biking, stand-up paddle boarding, open water swimming, and road cycling. The Valkyrie consists of a Full Course (100+ mi) and a Sprint Course (50-70 mi), with many events featuring companion races such as a marathon & half and a 5K - all running concurrently in their respective host communities. The races culminate at an all-day endurance sport industry expo and family-oriented live site at the finish line.

MOUNTAIN BIKE (MTB) - 17.1 mi at Horse Gulch

STANDUP PADDLE BOARD (SUP) - 3.1 mi at Lake Nighthorse 

OPEN WATER SWIM (SWM) - 1.2 mi at Lake Nighthorse

ROAD CYCLE (RCY) - 46.2 mi throughout the Animas River Valley

CANOE/KAYAK PADDLE (PAD) - 5.1 mi down the Animas River

ROAD RUN (RDR) - 16.6 mi on the Animas River Trail
