Utah Lake Run
Utah Lake Run Race Description
All participants get a free bib and t-shirt. 5k race winners will receive medals.
Help us commemorate the 250th anniversary of when the Domínguez–Escalante Expedition saw Utah Lake for the first time! There are two ways of racing: A timed 5K or a casual 1-mile. Both will start and stop at the Utah Lake State Park.
History
Atanasio Domínguez and Silvestre Vélez de Escalante were two Franciscan friars who were charged to find an overland route from Santa Fe, New Mexico to their Catholic monastery in California. During their expedition, they explored a large portion of the western United States, including much of Utah. On Sept. 22, 1776, they arrived in Utah Valley and saw Utah Lake. This is also where they met the Timpanogots Utes who lived there. To learn more about the expedition, click here.
