URI Be. 5K Race Description

Join us on Saturday, October 19, 2024 for the 16th annual Be5K, URI's 5K walk/run for suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Registration begins at 8:30am and the race starts at 10:00am

All proceeds from the event will support mental health awareness and suicide prevention efforts on the URI campus through The Heather Fund. Suicide continues to be the 2nd leading cause of death for college-age students. Awareness is a key component to breaking down mental health stigma and making sure everyone has access to resources!

The Heather Fund was established in memory of Heather Vennewald to support services and programs in the prevention and treatment of depression and suicide in the URI community. The family has shared that they are "pleased to be connected to this important annual event of community, compassion, and commitment to make a difference for the students, and entire URI family."

Time: 10am (Registration begins at 8:30am)
