Senior Walk Race Description

PURPOSE OF EVENT:
To get seniors on their feet and walking and to help them add walking to a daily routine. Walking is a low impact way for people of all ages to improve cardiovascular fitness and strengthen muscles and bones. The event will help to raise funding for Community Impact Grants for Alexandria sponsored by United Way of the National Capital Area.


DESCRIPTION:
Starting in Oronoco Bay Park, participants will walk North along the walking path and will turn around and before they reach the Mt. Vernon Trail head back South on the walking path ending up on the patio at United Way for a light refreshments. Travel distance will be marked for one mile, or two miles on the walking path (participants may walk any distance they choose). Admission to the walk will be $25 and t-shirts/ball caps may be sold as well.

PURPOSE OF UNITED WAY
The most important thing to know about United Way of the National Capital Area is this. After 40 years of fighting for the health, education and financial stability of our community, we continue the fight with more strength and commitment than ever.
