Run with Ricky Virtual 5K

Phi Theta Kappa, the Honor Society for the Two-Year College, is the largest honor society in American higher education with over 1.5 million members and more than 1,200 chapters worldwide. Our Northeast chapter, Iota Zeta, happens to be one of the highest-ranking chapters in one of the organization’s highest-ranking regions (MS/LA)! Thanks to the support of our community, Iota Zeta has won numerous international awards, including being named a top 10 chapter. As part of our service mission, Iota Zeta is responsible for numerous community outreach and academic research projects. To name only a few of these, our chapter holds and assists with on-campus blood drives, contributes to our campus food pantry, collects money and participates in Relay for Life, and works with the American Red Cross, both raising money and installing fire alarms for families in need. 

In light of COVID-19 and issues with our traditional fundraising efforts, our chapter has decided to host a Virtual 5K called Run with Ricky (named after our own college president and avid runner, Dr. Ricky Ford) to help raise the money we need to fund this year's projects. 

This 5K is virtual, so anyone can run or walk anywhere that is convenient for them! A 5K equals 3.1 miles--if you walk or run 3.1 miles (even on a treadmill!) you've completed a 5K. We have created the PTK Challenge Course for people who'd like to complete their 5K on NEMCC's campus in Booneville, but this is only a suggestion. We ask that you use an app on your phone or a smart watch (or the distance and time functions on your treadmill) to keep up with your distance and time of completion.
