Museum Miles Race through History 5K

The Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum 5K Run is a fundraising event aimed at bolstering the Museum's efforts to enhance and modernize the Museum and its exhibits. The race will commence at the Heritage Museum and culminate in the vibrant Cotton District, guiding participants through the rich historical tapestry of Starkville's Historic District, downtown area, and the bustling Cotton District.

The race will begin at the Heritage Museum (206 Fellowship St.) and end in the Cotton District.  We plan to have signs along the route to assist you.

What's the address of the start/finish area?

·       106 E Main St, Starkville 39759, will get you to where you need to be.

Will there be an early packet pickup location?

·       Yes. For those who have pre-registered, you can pick up your packet on Friday, February 16. It will be at the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum (206 Fellowship St.) from 4 – 6:00pm on February 16, 2024.

·       You will be able to pick up your packets race day at the race site starting at 7:30am.

What do I bring to pick up my packet?

·       Photo ID so we know it's you.

Can I sign up the day of the race?

·       Yes, but there is an additional cost and you may not be able to get a t-shirt day of the event.

Are strollers / wheelchairs allowed?

·       Yes, but this course does have some small hills so if you don't think you can control it, please don't try it.

Will this race be chip timed?

·       No.

What awards will be given?

·       OAwards for overall Male and Female will be given and as well as 1st, 2nd and 3^rd in each of the following categories:

• 17 and under  
• 18-29                 
• 30-39                 
• 40-49                 
• 50+      

Race Day Information:

1. Starting Times

·       The Race will begin at 9:00 a.m. and registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

2. Water Stations

·       We'd like to encourage individuals that need it to bring their own hydration.

·       We will not provide registrants access to a water station along the course but we will have water at the start and finish lines. 

3. Awards Ceremony

·       After consulting with other race directors, we are going to handed out awards as the race is completed as we determine placement.

·       The awards will be able to be picked up next to the timing table as you cross the finish line.

·       We will be taking pictures throughout the event and at the awards.
