April 25, 2020 Freedom Run for a Life is in memory of 6 year old Dominik Kelly-Taylor Reed and to support his family, Alek (Hannah), Courtney (Jacob); and his siblings, Eli, Keegan, Cohen, and Emma. We will also be supporting the Freedom Food Pantry by asking everyone to bring non-perishable foods items to be donated to the pantry.

Dominik was born on April 2, 2013. Shortly after turning two years old Dominik was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma childhood cancer. For over a year he battled in Milwaukee, receiving many rounds of chemo, surgeries, and a bone marrow transplant. After 18 months he was cancer free and done with treatment! Right before Dom’s 6th birthday after going in to the emergency room for stomach pain, it was discovered his cancer was back. He battled as hard as he could for the next ten months before he couldn’t fight anymore. On the early morning of December 28, 2019, Dominik found peace surrounded by family and friends.

Dominik was the most energetic, mischievous ray of sunshine. He enjoyed being around people and loved to make you smile. He had a way of making every person he met instantly fall in love with him. Dom did not know anything other than frequent visits and sometimes very long stays in the hospital.  Somehow, he would always find a way to be the loving and happy boy everyone loved. His laugh was so infectious. Dom was a sweet, loving boy who was lost too soon. He was the most fun-spirited fighter.

Throughout Dominik’s life he taught us many lessons. He taught us how to be strong. He taught us that even in the hardest, most dire situations, a simple smile can change everything. He taught us that a child's strength is infinite. He taught us that sometimes being sassy is okay, as long as you are cute.  He taught us that life is incredibly short and to live every minute to the fullest. He taught us to never take anything for granted and no matter how bad things get, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Dominik finally found his light. May we never forget what he gave us. Although he was not with us long enough, he gave all who loved and cherished him a map for life. Smile often, laugh openly, and live freely.
