Our 5k race will be hosted at the University of North Alabama starting at the clock tower on Circular Dr. (Nancy B. & Jack Opler Street Clock) and completed at the water fountain in the Laura M. Harrison Plaza on campus. LINE UP FOR THE RACE IS AT 9:30AM!! Shirts will be included with the registration process with your choice of a tank style shirt or t-shirt. Upon your choosing the proceeds of this event can either go to the Cadet Fund, supporting the UNA ROTC cadets, or the American Military Legacy (AML) scholarship, available to UNA ROTC Cadets. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place overall, as well as 1st and 2nd in each age group.
The Cadet Fund serves as the foundation for giving to our program. Each year UNA Army ROTC relies on these contributions to provide special resources for cadets in order to complete yet another successful training year. The Cadet fund does not receive money from the university; however, the battalion’s ROTC cadets raise the money through activities and fundraising events such as, security assistance at sporting events, JROTC challenge, 5ks, etc. The Cadet fund supports the Cadets’ moral, welfare and use. By giving to the Cadet fund, you will see the results of your generosity throughout cadet training. Your donation and/or sponsorship will make a direct impact on the success of this program.
The American Military Legacy (AML) Scholarship was set up by Colonel Buddy Brook, an UNA Army ROTC Alumni and an Army veteran. Each year the AML Scholarship is awarded to a prior service military student and in the event there is no qualifier, the scholarship is awarded to a police officer returning to school. Colonel Brook is very interested in helping young men and women that want to make a career out of the military.
