Virtual 5K and 1 mile Fun Run

Run/walk on your own schedule and upload your results and photos.
How do I participate in the SMU Wellpower 5k?
Register between February 13th-March 29th.
The SMU Wellpower Virtual 5k will be held between April 16th - April 22nd. Run or walk at your own pace on your schedule and share your accomplishments on social media using #SMUWellpower5k (follow us on Facebook and Twitter)!
How much does it cost to participate in the SMU Wellpower 5k?
5k registration: $10 and includes a bib, free race t-shirt and bag!
1 Mile Fun Run (12 and under only): FREE includes a bib but does NOT include t-shirt or bag.
Race Information
- Encourage your departmental co-workers to register for the virtual 5k to help your department win the annual Pacesetter Award. The Pacesetter Award is a plaque with the winning department’s name engraved on it! It will be awarded to the SMU department with the greatest percentage of faculty and staff 5k participants.
- 2021 Pacesetter Winner: Perkins School of Theology
- 2022 Pacesetter Winner: The Libraries
- Packet pick-up will be held April 13th and 14th. Watch for upcoming emails with details on packet pick-up times and locations. Only SMU employees and students will be able to pick up packets. If you invite a non-SMU guest, you will have to make sure to pick up their packet.
- Follow our training plan to help you prepare for race day! Look for emails or follow us on social media to download the training plan. Make sure to upload training runs/walks for 50 Wellpower points each, for up to 1000 points!
I have kid(s) under the age of 12 that want to participate?
- Kids under the age of 12 are invited to participate in the virtual 1 mile Fun Run for no cost. Make sure to register your kid(s) when completing your registration.
How do I upload my results?
- Accurately record the distance and duration of your run by using a smart watch, tracking device or mobile app, such as Garmin, Strava, Apple, FitBit or GoogleFit.
- Take a screenshot or photo of your watch or app for proof of completion.
- Upload on the participant self service page.
Note: We also accept non-GPS photo uploads, such as tired dogs and sweaty selfies. However, your upload must include GPS evidence to be eligible for individual awards.

It was my first time ever running a 5K... and what better place to do it than the beautiful campus at SMU. Very well organized and lots of fun!
