The 5K event is intended to commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15th – October 15th). The MHA is a non-profit organization that has been promoting the Hispanic culture for 20 years. In addition, we aim to help Hispanics integrate into Mississippi’s mainstream. Proceeds from the run will be
used to fund our three major programs such as MHA Paco Rosales Scholarship, the MHA Reading Program and MHA Folkloric Dance Group. Not only are these the programs essential in cultivating and nurturing our Hispanic community, but a percentage of the proceeds will go towards informing all Mississippians about Latin history and traditions. In addition to these programs, MHA will donate 15% of the proceeds to the Excel Community & Learning Center located in Morton, MS, an exemplary community service program which also aims to help Hispanics.
