ChapTer 21 Buddy Walk and 5K Race Description

THE RACE: Welcome to the First Annual ChapTer 21 Buddy Walk 1 Mile Walk, 5K Run/Walk event.  The course will be USA Track and Field Certified.  It starts and finishes at Riverside Park at Riverside Elementary in the Lakeview School District.  The Elementary is on the corner of Riverside Drive and Golden Avenue in Battle Creek, MI.  There will be aid/water stations throughout the course with awards and a festival afterwards.  There will be refreshments, food, live music, games, bounce houses and door prizes.

PACKET PICK UP:  TBA

REGISTRATION OF TEAMS:  You will need to raise a minimum of $15.00 per person to cover the costs of receiving a custom Buddy Walk® t-shirt and custom Buddy Walk® medal.

POST RACE: Food, Drinks, Awards, Games, Music, Bounce Houses, a Raffle and more.  Our goal is to raise money to connect Down syndrome Families, Education, and Research throughout all of Southwest Michigan.

PRINCE AND PRINCESS:  The top male and top female fundraisers (Team or Individual) over $3000.00 will be featured on a billboard highlighting the loved one with Down syndrome and promoting the second annual ChapTer 21 Buddy Walk® 2017 in Battle Creek, MI.  The Prince and Princess of the Buddy Walk® will also be announced on stage at 12:00 PM during the festival.

RAFFLE:  Beginning immediately after the crowning of the Prince and Princess will be the raffle.  Each registrant will get one ticket upon packet pick up.  Additional tickets will be available for purchase at the festival.

SILENT AUCTION:  The silent auction will be on display and available from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  After the auction closes at 1:00 PM names will be announced and all items will be ready for pick up.

AWARDS: Awards will be given out for the following catergories in both Men's and Women's divisions of the 5K: Top three overall; Top three in each age group: 10 & Under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & Up
