Maine Races

Known for its beautiful falls and cold winters, there are plenty of opportunities to get outside in Maine.

Maine Marathons

  • Moosehead Marathon – Enjoy spring in Maine at this April race. You can also opt for a half marathon distance.
  • Maine Coast Marathon – Run along the coast in May choosing from full marathon, half marathon, and 5K distances.
  • Pine Tree Marathon – Run through Black Cove Park in May.
  • Sugarloaf Marathon & 15K – Choose your distance at this May race.
  • Great Bangor Marathon and Half – Run through Great Bangor in June. You can opt for the half marathon instead of the full marathon.
  • Bay of Fundy International Marathon – Cross the US/Canada border at this June race.
  • Last Man Standing Ultramarathon – In August, run a 4.2 mile loop in under an hour as many times as you can at this New Gloucester race.
  • Firebird Trail Races – Run 13-miles, a marathon, or a 50K trail race in Windham in August.
  • Great Lincoln Marathon – Conquer this September marathon. If that’s not your speed, you can opt for a half marathon or a 5K.
  • Maine Marathon – Enjoy fall at this October marathon. You can also opt for a marathon relay or a half marathon. 
  • Great Waterville Marathon & Half – Enjoy a marathon or half marathon at this October race in Waterville. 
  • Mount Desert Island Marathon – Run through Acadia National Park in October. You can also opt for the marathon relay or half marathon instead of the marathon.
  • Millinocket Marathon – Brave the Maine winter and enjoy it at this December race. You can choose between the marathon or the half marathon.

Maine Half Marathons

  • Eastern States Road Race – Enjoy a half marathon or 20-mile race at this Kittery race in March.
  • On the Run Half Marathon – Run this March half marathon that starts and ends at the Brunswick Hotel in Portland. You can enjoy food and a cash bar, too.
  • Lamoine Half Marathon – Enjoy this March beach run organized by the local YMCA.
  • Boyden Lake Half Marathon – In April you can complete a half marathon, relay, walk or even a ruck (half marathon while carrying a 35-lb pack). It also offers a para division for the half marathon.
  • Acadia National Park Half Marathon – You can walk or run this June half marathon or opt for a 10K at this race in Bar Harbor.
  • Old Port Half Marathon – You can opt for the half marathon or a 5K at this June race in Portland.
  • Blueberry Cove 13.1 – Enjoy Blueberry Cove at this August half marathon.
  • Corporal Cole Memorial 5K & Half Marathon – In August, run this memorial race. Choose either the half marathon or 5K. Kids can participate in the kids fun run.
  • Pumpkinman Triathlon and Running Festival – You can complete in several triathlon categories at this September race. It also includes relay options and an Olympic aquabike..
  • Arundel Conservation Trust Trail Fest – You can choose from several distances at this September race, a half marathon, 10K, or 5K.
  • Autumn and Ales Half Marathon – Celebrate fall at this September race. Opt for the half marathon, 10K, or 5K.
  • Waldoboro Half Marathon – After you finish this September race, enjoy beer from a local brewery.
  • Moosehorn Ghost Run Half Marathon and Relay – Enjoy a half marathon or half marathon relay at this October race in Baileyville.  

Maine Turkey Trots

  • Penobscot Bay YMCA Turkey Trot 5K – Enjoy this community run in Rockport. There’s also a free kids race. 
  • Turkey Trot 4 Hope – Support The Cancer Resource Center of Western Maine by participating in this race. You can choose from several distances: 4 mile, 1 mile, and walk or run options.
  • Bath Area Food Bank 5K Turkey Trot – Support the local food bank at this turkey trot.
  • Maine Track Club Turkey Trot – Enjoy a 5K put on by the Maine Track Club. This race also offers a kids fun run.

Maine Clubs & Race Series

  • New England Series – Run through several New England states when you participate in this series, including Maine in June.
  • Central Maine Striders – The oldest, active running club in Maine, this running club organizes runs and races throughout the year.
  • Maine Track Club – Based in Portland, the Maine Track Club organizes several runs throughout the year and supports other races.
  • The Bicycle Coalition of Maine – This organization works to make Maine a safer place to bike and walk. In addition to its advocacy, it also organizes several events throughout the year.

Maine Bike Races

  • Scarborough Crit – Over the year, there are a few bike races called Scarborough Crit. You can choose 19.5 miles, 23 miles, or 31.2 miles.
  • Rangeley Fat Bike Loppet – Kickoff the new year and enjoy a picturesque winter at this January race. You can opt for the 16-20 mile category or the 8-10 mile category.
  • Maine Maple Sunday Ride – Enjoy a 30-mile or 60-mile ride through Wiscasset in March.
  • Titcomb Mountain Fat Bike Race – Enjoy this June bike race in Farmington.
  • Trek Across Maine – Bike across Maine at this multi-day event in June. It’s a total of 180 miles.
  • Pinebury Megacross Mountainbike Race – Enjoy a 25-mile or 50-mile race through New Gloucester in June.
  • Carrabassett Backcountry Cycle Challenge – Opt for a 100K, 50K, or 25K at this July race.
  • Maine Summer Adventure Race – Enjoy a race with multiple aspects including trail hiking, mountain biking, and paddling at this July race in Bethel. Select from a 24-hour, 8-hour, and 3-hour options.
  • Yarmouth Clam Festival Bike Race – Celebrate clams in July with a 34.4-mile or 25-mile race.
  • MAINEly Gravel – Ride through New Gloucester in August. Choose a 35-mile or 58-mile distance.
  • Maine Lighthouse Ride – See lighthouses while riding along Maine’s southern coast. Choose from several distances: 25 miles, 40 miles, 62 miles, and 100 miles.
  • The New England Parkinson’s Ride – Ride 100, 62, 50, 30, or 10 miles along Old Orchard Beach in September.
  • Cadillac Challenge Century – Ride on Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park at this October bike race.
