2020 CincoK 5K Run/Walk: Inspiring Hope
(updated April 2020)
In the face of this unprecedented crisis, many of us are having to readjust to a new, temporary normal. As an essential business, HOPE staff have had to re-imagine ways to continue delivering services to our community while also practicing social distancing.
In the midst of this readjustment, we were faced with the hard realization of possibly having to cancel our annual fundraiser, CincoK. We couldn't wrap our heads around missing out an event so close to our hearts. How could we save our CincoK?
Now that the dust has settled a bit, we decided to get creative. We aren’t new to adversity, after all, we deal with crisis all the time.
We are holding a Virtual 5k! Two ways to walk, jog or run for a great local cause:
· Join in through Zoom and complete our CincoK with family, friends and others in the community. Noon on Tuesday, May 5th, Cinco de Mayo.
· Complete your CincoK at any time you choose between Saturday, May 2nd through Saturday, May 9th.
HOPE will mail all registered participants a certificate of participation and token of recognition!
Like other years, all are welcome to make a donation of any size to HOPE through the CincoK virtual event. That can be done through our Race Entry page or our HOPE of Ogle County website.
You can register through Race Entry or the Rochelle Park District office.
CincoK is HOPE of Ogle County's only annual fundraiser. All proceeds go to support HOPE of Ogle County (the local domestic violence agency and shelter) and the life changing services that we provide to adults, teens and children throughout the county.
HOPE's mission is to advocate on behalf of domestic violence victims and their children in a welcoming environment. Our caring professionals provide safety planning, support, shelter, and referrals while empowering survivors to build a safe and peaceful future. HOPE of Ogle County provides shelter services, counseling services, court advocacy, and advocacy for Latino/Hispanic survivors. This Fall, we added two outreach offices to our fleet, one in Polo and one in Rochelle, in order to increase our accessibility to Latino/Hispanic survivors and survivors in our rural service area. This past fiscal year, HOPE of Ogle County provided services to 521 adults, children, and teens.
We appreciate your continued support of our life-saving services for adult and child victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

This race opened my eyes to the little things us citizens can do, that have the biggest impact on victims of domestic violence in our area. A fun event with food, music, and more. Definitely plan to attend in future years :) the only reason I haven't yet is because I have been out of town the past few years when the date rolls around! Go Cinco K and HOPE of Ogle County! Keep up your amazing and unique work.
