Imagine being a combat veteran and trying to return home only to feel alone and out of place... Wild Ops is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that exists to find these warriors and provide them with a safe and natural place to connect with one another and God. Whether you are looking for a fun run or if you want to compete for the prize, this fundraising event is for everyone. Wild Ops and the Kent State Veterans Club invites you to come out and support our Nations Heroes during our Wild Ops 5k Race For Warriors Fundraiser! All proceeds go toward supporting the Wild Ops Mission... Veterans dedicated to helping fellow combat Veterans find support, hope, and healing in the battle of transitioning back into civilian life through facilitating faith-based wilderness excursions. The in-person events will be held at the Kent State University Main Campus which begins and ends in the Risman Plaza at the Kent State Student Center. The course will be clearly marked and will take you through the Kent State Campus via the Esplanade and along the Portage Bike & Hike Trail. After the race there will be a post-race party and an awards ceremony.

In Person Participation: Check-in and Race Day registration will begin at 9am. Events will begin at 10am. Individual Registration packets for early registrations can be picked up from April 25 - 29 at the Kent State Center For Adult & Veterans Services Office located in the Schwartz Building at 800 East Summit Street Room 181, Kent, Ohio 44242 between the hours of 10am-4pm. The Timed event for this Race will be timed by GCXC Race Timing & Managment.

All in person participants will receive:

  • Entry Into The 5k Race & Post Race PIZZA PARTY!
  • Free T-Shirt
  • Water & Snacks At All Aid Stations
  • 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place Male/Female Finisher Prizes will be Awarded (See Below)
  • 5k Finisher Medal to the Top 100 Finishers

Virtual Participation: This 5k walk/run event is open to anyone, anywhere. If you live in another state or are not able to join us for the in-person event on race day, sign up for our Virtual Race. Anyone who signs up for the virtual race will have from April 15 - April 30 to complete their 5k. Virtual participants can choose to run/walk their distance all in one day or spread out over the course of the two weeks. Upon registration and leadings up to the event, virtual participants will receive instructions on how to log in to runsignup and input their distances and times. All submissions must be entered by 11am on April 30, 2022. Virtual registration is only $20 however, when registering for a virtual event, registrants have the option to pay an additional $5.00 if they wish to receive an event t-shirt. Virtual registration packets will be mailed to the participants address that they use during registration.

Nationwide Challenge: This 5k walk/run event is open to anyone, anywhere. If you live in another state or are not able to join us for the in-person event on race day, sign up for our Virtual Race. If you want to participate in the Nationwide Challenge, you can create your own team from your home state with other participants you know or you can join one of the existing teams and you can run against other teams in our Nationwide Challenge. The winning team of the Nationwide Challenge will all receive 1st Place Medals, a Free Wild Ops Hooded Sweatshirt and Awards. Don't let long distances stop you from Running Wild for our Vets. Virtual registration is only $20 however, when registering for a virtual event, registrants have the option to pay an additional $5.00 if they wish to receive an event t-shirt. Virtual registration packets will be mailed to the participants address that they use during registration.

PRIZES: Prizes will be awarded to the in person top qualifiers for male and female at the post-race party. Other prizes and giveaways will be distributed at the post-race party as well. Cash prize amounts for the top qualifiers are as follows:

  • 1st Place Prize Men/Women: $100
  • 2nd Place Prize Men/Women: $50
  • 3rd Place Prize Men/Women: $25
