Three Rivers Battalion Run to Fund Race Description
The Three Rivers Batallion is the Army ROTC program based at the University of Pittsburgh but includes students from 13 other universities. Army ROTC is a program that allows students to attend college while training to become an Army Officer simultaneously. They are taught basic military skills and the fundamentals of leadership in various training environments. The skills and lessons learned throughout this program allow them to commission in the United States Army as officers upon graduation.
The University of Pittsburgh Army ROTC program will host a 5k and fun run in April 2023. This event is being hosted in order to support the program and fund events such as their annual military ball, transportation to and from military training events, and clothing and supplies for the cadets.
The fun run will take place first and is approximately 0.62 miles long (one lap around the gravel walking track in Schenley park). Due to the race taking place on Easter weekend, the fun run will incorporate an egg hunt to add another level of fun! This race is great for all ages!
The 5k will be conducted after the fun run and is 3.1 miles around some of the trails in Schenley park.
