Synaptic Strides for Parkinsons Research Race Description

Join us on August 29th at beautiful Duke Island Park for a powerful day of movement, community, and purpose at our Walk/Run event, where “Every Step Strengthens the Signal.” This inspiring event invites participants of all ages and abilities to come together in support of those affected by Parkinson’s Disease. Choose between a 3K route or a 1.25-mile accessible course as we promote exercise, connection, and awareness in a welcoming and uplifting environment. Whether you're running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, every step taken helps make a difference.

This event is held in honor of Hal Snyder, whose 15-year journey with Parkinson’s Disease was marked by strength, resilience, and unwavering love for his family and community. Proceeds will benefit the Parkinson’s Foundation, supporting critical research, resources, and care for those living with Parkinson’s. More than just a race, this is a celebration of perseverance, a tribute to an extraordinary life, and a chance to stand together for a meaningful cause. Every step we take is for Hal—and for everyone continuing the fight.

For 15 years, Hal Snyder lived with Parkinson’s Disease with strength, resilience, and grace. The disease never defined him as he remained a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and role model to so many. He was a successful sales consultant, volunteer, author, and patriot.
He shared 62 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Diane, and was the rock of the family guiding everyone through life’s decisions with intelligence and a sense of calmness that resonated with all. He had three children and eight grandchildren who he adored. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren in all their activities and cheering them on every step of the way. As it turned out, his family ended up cheering HIM on when it came to his rigorous physical therapy sessions and daily battles with mobility.
A lifelong sports fan, he especially loved the Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, New Jersey Devils, and Seton Hall Prep soccer, coached by his son, nephew, and son-in-law. He loved the ocean breeze, big hot fudge sundaes, family dinners, and holidays with extended family.
At 89, Hal leaves a legacy of love, perseverance, and quiet courage. He made everyone from every walk of life feel special and valued. One of Hal’s favorite quotes and title of his book was “It Isn’t Difficult to Be Outstanding”. Hal was outstanding in nearly every aspect of his life, including his determination to never give up. Every step is for him.
