Spring Lake Shiver Race Description
UPDATE 1/7/2022: Due to Covid illness and/or quarantine of multiple board members and their families, as well as the high prevalence of Covid-19 infections in our community, the 5th Annual Spring Lake Shiver has moved to a virtual event. This was a difficult, yet necessary, decision to make. We are ever thankful for our sponsors and will honor them at a future event this spring, date TBD so stay tuned for more info! PARTICIPANTS: Please upload your photos or videos of your virtual Spring Lake Shiver Polar Splash to social media and tag us! @Jackhelbig.org on Facebook and @swim4jack on Instagram and be sure to include #springlakeshiver in your public post. JHMF will hand out event T-shirts to the first 50 registered participants on Jan 29 from 10am-12Noon at The Office Coffee & Wine Bar in Boiling Spring Lakes. We look forward to seeing your creative polar splashes while raising awareness of drowning prevention in Jack's memory!
Jack Helbig Memorial Foundation invites you to participate in our fifth annual polar splash event, the Spring Lake Shiver, at Spring Lake Park in Boiling Spring Lakes, NC. Individuals and teams will splash into the chilly waters of Spring Lake Park to raise funds for Jack Helbig Memorial Foundation's drowning prevention and swim lesson programs. Help us educate families about water safety by contributing to the Spring Lake Shiver. Creative costumes are encouraged; there will be prizes for the best costumes! Jump in the lake on your own or build a team to raise funds (and fun!) together. Bring friends and family to join in and make a splash to help prevent drowning!
Jack Helbig Memorial Foundation's mission is to prevent drowning through education and awareness. Drowning is a leading cause of death of children ages 1-4 years; a fact too many families are unaware of until the tragedy of drowning happens to them. This is a great event. Polar plunge style. Safety is paramount and the organizers have thought of every detail. From heated changing tents to safety crews/ems in the water and on shore. I plan to help make a splash at the spring lake shiver for many years to come.
This is a fun event for participates and observers. The customs have gotten better each year.
This cause is close to our hearts! And so very important here on the coast! We got so excited to put on our silliest, water safe costume for our quick dip in the lake! The anticipation was thick and my son thought it was a little scary, but we did it! There were glorious tents of warmth afterwards along with treats and hot cocoa! Great music and great community coming together for a precious reason. Water safety!
