Southern Oregon Young Marines DDR 5K Dash

Southern Oregon Young Marines is hosting a Drug Demand Reduction 5K/10K Walking/Running Dash memorializing DEA Agent Kiki Camerena who dedicated his career against drug trafficking, dying in the line of duty trying to keep drugs out of the United States. This event will be hosted by Southern Oregon Young Marines and is a community based event with participants registering in advance, while selecting and purchasing T-Shirts ahead of time. Join us on October 18th from 8:00am to 11:00am, in stomping out drugs in Honor of Red Ribbon Week October 23rd-31st, kicking off with our 5k/10k walk/run in support of a healthy drug free lifestyle.

Afterwards, join us in Bear Creek Park for a Chili Cook Off / BBQ contest with the community casting their vote for a winner in both categories. We will have a DIY craft booth, educational booth, raffle prizes, pie throwing contest, rock climbing wall, Interactive Demos such as Virtual Reality experiences showing the effects of drugs. Mock sobriety tests with drunk goggles simulating alcohol impairment and drug goggles simulating the effects of Marijuana. 

Step right up to a classic carnival featuring games and interactive fun for the whole family. We will be inviting the Mayor to speak & share information about the importance of leading a drug free and alcohol free lifestyle and what the city of Medford, OR is doing to collaborate with local & governmental agencies to help combat these issues, keeping our community safe for all.
