The Southern Hills Triathlon- Olympic, Sprint, Relay & Youth Races Description

This year marks the 27th Annual Southern Hills Triathlon!   We are very excited to be considered one of the premier triathlon venues in South Dakota.  The race event takes place at Angostura Recreation Area in the Black Hills, south of Hot Springs. The park is a wonderful natural area with a pristine sand beach (no rocks, no weeds); a rolling bike course through neighboring ranch land; and a wonderfully scenic run path along the lake shore.

We are super excited to have you come experience this awesome Family-Fun event… We will be providing delicious grilled cheese sandwiches on race day for all our finishers – along with other great food options and a variety of beverages will be provided for all participants.

Be sure to sign up by August 9th to receive a race t-shirt. (Custom-made Medals are given to all youth and adult finishers. First, Second and Third Place Awards are given for adult age groups and First Place Overall awards are given for the Olympic and Sprint distances. We hope you enjoy yourself and return for future races. While you race, remember that this race does help the community library grow stronger and more active.  This race is in cooperation with the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, the Angostura State Recreation Area and the Friends of the Library in Hot Springs, South Dakota.

RUN: This is an out and back run course.  It is mostly hilly and runs adjacent to the shore of the picturesque Angostura Reservoir.  Run time begins when crossing the RUN OUT timing mats and ends when you cross the FINISH LINE.  Make sure the back-up timers see your BIB number when crossing the finish line. Gorgeous!

What a well setup race. My emails were all returned with my questions answered. The spaghetti feed prior was just what we needed. The volunteers are so accommodating and kind. We will be back.
