Slim Body 5k Run/Walk In Memory of Lamar Shuler

Description:

The Slim Body 5k is a run/walk in honor of the memory of Lonnie Sykes & Lamar Shuler. Lonnie Sykes died of Colon Cancer at the age of 36. Lamar Shuler recently died of Stomach Cancer at the age of 40 years old. Lonnie and Lamar both had love for athletes and how they performed. The proceeds from this event will be used to pay for  student athletes to receive SAT/ACT tutoring, to take trips to colleges, to receive elite athletic training.

Join us as we set the Holiday Season off the healthy way with a family 5k RUN/Walk. We have teamed up with Formula4Speed & 2nd Wind Mentors to keep Lamar Shuler's memory alive. Lamar was a fun, charismatic, & straight to the point type of guy who loved his family and friends dearly. Lamar had a passion for sports especially football. In September of 2017 he was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer and unfortunately the treatment that he received wasn't enough and he passed away October 21st 2018. Lamar left behind his wife Linda and his 3 son's Lamar, Hayden, & Holden. The proceeds raised from this event will help underprivileged youth/teens get a structured teaching foundation of health, character & leadership from single mom households. It will also help under Funded LAUSD schools get a knowledgeable Coach to provide weekly Fitness (P.E) classes. Lastly funds will be allocated for student athletes to get trips to Universities throughout the U.S SAT/ACT tutoring. You will receive a medal and a t-shirt with your participation.
