San Antonio Welcome Walk Race Description
1 mile family-friendly walk honoring the refugees' journey and the community's commitment to walk with them as they resettle.
Wear your traditional dress for this Parade of Nations!
Schedule (subject to change):
- 8:00 - 8:45 a.m. Registration and Check-in
- 8:00 - 12:30 International Marketplace, Infospace, Food Truck
- 8:25 - 8:45 a.m. Warm-up activities by Saldivar Martial Arts
- 8:45 - 9:00 a.m. WELCOME ceremony with special guest Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Star Spangled Banner
- 9:00 - 9:30 a.m. Welcome Walk
- 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. COVID and Flu vaccinations by UT Health
- 9:40 - 10:10 a.m. “Meet your Neighbors” Activities and games for all ages
- 10:10 - 10:30 a.m. Children’s Race and Ribbons
- 10:30 - 11:00 a.m. Parade of Nations
- 10:45 - 11:30 a.m. “Meet your Neighbors” Activities and games for all ages
- 11:30a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Closing Ceremony including poetry reading, Community Sponsors Program Overview, and refugee journey book reading
