Running for Ramps is a program that was developed to help those in our community who are in need of a wheelchair ramp to enter and exit their homes, enjoy social activities, and get to necessary appointments with decreased physical struggle. This program is aimed towards those who have limited financial and familial support, who otherwise may not be able to return home. The idea for Running for Ramps was inspired by a former patient, who suffered a severe medical incident that left him wheelchair bound. This patient could not afford a wheelchair ramp and went through several physical, emotional, and financial struggles in order to return home. It was then that one of our ITS therapists developed the idea of funding a program that could provide assistive equipment for those in need in our community. This is a great chance for our community to provide for a fellow community member through teamwork and fun physical activity. Let's improve our health through an opportunity to assist others with their struggles and run to build a ramp!
