Running for AJs Peace 5K

According to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), suicide is the third leading cause of death in youth and young adults ages 10-24 and 90% of those who died by suicide had an underlying illness.  While there are many nationwide organizations that help bring awareness to mental illness and suicide research, AJsPeaceProject, Inc. has found that we need support and assistance to make an impact locally.  On behalf of AJPP, I would like to invite you to be involved with the inaugural 5k Family Fun Run on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Harbor Park in Lake Baldwin.

As a host of this annual run, our mission is to advocate awareness within the community.  Not only will we provide resources and facilitate workshops, we will offer alternative and holistic ways to manage mental illness in our youth. Our efforts are targeted to help drive down the number of young people aged 15-24 who attempt suicide each year which the National Institute of Mental Health is currently estimating to affect between 500,000 and one million young people.

This year we hope to attract close to 200 participants.  Your involvement int the 1st Annual run for AJsPeaceProject, Inc. promises to have an everlasting impact on our organization long after the last runner crosses the finish line!  We look forward to seeing you there!
