Get some fitness and fun celebrating Sharktoberfest learning about sharks and ocean ecosystems with your family & friends. A fundraising event for nonprofit Shark Stewards raising awareness for sharks and their role in healthy ocean ecosystems. Get your miles for smiles for 100 Mile Club and dress up as your favorite ocean creature for special prizes. Get your team together of 5 or more for more prizes. Dog friendly course as long a your dog is on a leash, well-controlled, and be aware of other dogs, people, and bikes on the course. I have done this run 3x and 1 x virtual during COVID since it began in 2017. This is more than a run, it's an ocean health fair and targets youth getting outdoors, getting exercise and inspiring them to be part of the solution for ocean health. The run itself is flat and fast with one little hill and in cool beach weather for fast personal bests, or non-competitors can take a 1 mile stroll. Located in the Newport Back Bay the race is professionally timed and organized and is run by an Ironwoman/shark attack survivor who is an inspiration. The non profit health and education booths are a great resource for kids and the public alike. Raffles and prizes make this a double win! Bring your family or run or tri club and help support the non-profit Shark Stewards work to protect sharks and ocean helath.
