Ride & Tie World Championship Race Description

Trail: Transverse the beautiful trails of Olmstead staging area fire roads and single track. The trail includes part of the Tevis trail. We do our best to keep you on shaded and better footing trails. There will be multiple aid stations for humans and horses along the course. Trail markings will be digital, traditional, and marked with flagging, flour, and signs. No time limit. Olmstead Staging area. 7200 St Florian Ct, Cool, CA 95614. Behind the fire station. This is a $10.00 daily fee for parking.

Overnight camping is $20.00 by arrangement with the Ride Manager. The event site opens on Thursday. Anyone needing camping prior see the amenities list or contact ride management. The location is in town and within walking distance of Holiday Market (full service), Restaurants, Dollar General, coffee shops, bar, gas station, and feed store within walking distance. Standard porta potty, water troughs, and water available. No showers or camp facilities.

This event is at the same location as the Coolest Ride and Tie. Hotels are in Auburn and Placerville. Pre- camping by private arrangements with Cool Hills stables or Stonehouse Ranch. Friday night BBQ and potluck at 6 pm. Ride and tie ride meeting 6 pm. Ride and tie clinic with Melissa Mongomery and Ali Ware. Ride meeting to follow. Friday family/junior 3-mile Ride and tie! 11 am. Saturday-Ride & Tie: Two people, one horse switching off pony express style or hanging together.

Ride and Tie will have a long course of 30 miles consisting of three loops. All crew at base camp. Short course 15 miles. Shortest 6-miles. Sunday Equathon: Rider/runner start together. There will be a long course 15 Ride/9 run and a short course 9 ride/9 run. Time finish is horse pulse downtime plus runner finish time combined. This is complicated so make sure it is recorded! The ride will consist of two loops (9 mile/6 mile) with a vet check pre/post. Pulse/trot check at 9 miles. Adds a bit of strategy! Sunday -IRON Equathon: Horse pulse time plus run time combined. May have crew pulse horse and vet for you.

Must have recorded run start time check out before leaving on run. Ironman can be done in either distance. Equathon- Short course: Ride 9 miles/Run 9 miles. Friday-Jr combination Ride & Tie (under 14) Jr./Jr. Adult/Jr. (Adult escorts permitted.
