The YoungLives 5K is a fundraising run/walk that was created to raise money and awareness for YoungLives of Greater Des Moines. YoungLives is a 100% community funded ministry that supports teenage mothers and their babies. This ministry meets teen moms right where they are by providing parenting and life skills classes, supportive mentors, bible studies, and most importantly, hope. YoungLives is currently serving teen moms from Waukee High School, North High School, Roosevelt High School, and Indianola High School – and we know there is an even greater need.
The fun run will raise money to help send teen moms and their babies to camp this summer where they will get a break from their hectic everyday schedules — thanks to childcare volunteers. These moms will have new and adventurous experiences, be free to ask questions, share their fears, and hear the good news of Jesus Christ. Without the financial support from the YoungLives 5K, these teen moms would not be able to have this life changing experience.
By participating in the YoungLives 5K you will give the gift of hope to teenage mothers and their babies right here in our community.
