United in Global Health 5K Race Description

Get Excited! CMU UNICEF and Global Medical Brigades will work together to host a 5K run on March 26th, 2016!! This spring we will be celebrating two causes, UNICEF's Believe in Zero event and Global Medical Brigade's sustainable medical vision.

Believe in Zero is an awareness campaign that exposes the causes of children's death like abuse and exploitation and the lack of clean water. 17,000 children will die today from similar causes that can easily be prevented. The number of children that pass due to preventable reasons can be eliminated to zero through education and vaccination. UNICEF Believes in Zero. Do you?

Global Medical Brigades (GMB) advocates for preventative health care that will raise the standard of living in underprivileged communities in Latin America. This spring, GMB will travel to the rural areas of Panama to facilitate mobile clinics to provide free medical care to those that do not have access to proper health care. While GMB is abroad, many types of long-lasting and sustainable care through education in dietary needs and basic illnesses will be offered. In addition, a Vision Station will be held in the clinic this spring so patients can receive corrective lenses. GMB will also participate in health sanitation projects and environmental work focusing in agriculture.

Please support our causes by running in our 5K!
Save the date - March 26th!
