Race Description

The Pilot Butte Challenge is a 1-mile run/fitness walk with close to 500 foot elevation gain. For many it's a grueling uphill trail running sprint. For everyone it's an opportunity to achieve a personal record (PR). There's nothing like it anywhere. All ages and abilities are welcome (the 2015 age range was 4 to 97). Medals are awarded three deep in over 36 age/gender categories. Medalists are listed on the legendary record boards in the park. The scenic course winds its way from the base of Pilot Butte to the top along the Nature Trail. All proceeds are used to improve the park and to help at risk youth through the Heart of Oregon Corps as they work on trails in park. The road to the summit is closed during the event and shuttle service is provided for non-racers.

My first race

I love Pilot Butte and now I love this race. Somehow I made it on the record board at the trailhead. I'm training now for 2016.
