Ft Huachuca Turkey Trot 5K Race Description

 

Fort Huachuca Turkey Trot 5K & Kid Fun Run 2K. A way to justify second helpings on Thanksgiving Day!

Kids 2K Fun Run will begin at 0700. The Turkey Trot 5K will begin after the 2K is completed.

First 100 registered runners will receive a commemorative T-shirt. So sign-up early! Registration ends COB 23 Nov 2025.

Packet Pick-up - Barnes Field House, 26 Nov 0800-1900, Race Day, 27 Nov 0600-0645

UPDATED ****Please note the event takes place on the installation. In order to enter the installation, you will need to attain an installation access pass prior to race day. Access passes can be obtained at the visitor's center located at Van Deman Gate. The hours of operation for the visitor's center are Monday - Friday 0530-1730****

A Joke

2k was SUPPOSED to start at 0700 with 5k after. A 5-10 mins delay is acceptable, didn't start the 2k until AFTER 0730, 5k after 0800. Packet pick up was a mess, not organized, and held everything up. No water points or water at the finish in the desert. Couldn't hear any of the announcements, no speaker or megaphone. Highly recommend MWR reaches out to Cen-Tex Races in Killeen, TX to learn how to properly execute a race.

Family fun

My family (adults, teens, toddler) does this for fun every year. The course is probably an easy to moderate level. It's all paved but a bit bumpy so not a smooth path with slow inclined, down hill, and flat areas. My 3 yr old can do it on his push bike (for 2 miles, rest is carry). It's fun and affordable. Totally doable with kids, walking, or if you're competitive can get a decent run in with a good time (XC teen son did it in 19 without going hard, parents with toddler 45 :-D). This is really just about having fun and getting out for exercise. We all enjoy it. Highly recommend for Thanksgiving morning.

We love this tradition so much!! It’s so well run and the race entry fee can’t be beat. Thank you to everyone who helps put on this event!! Best way to start the holiday!!
