BYU-Idaho Temple to Temple VIRTUAL Relay

The Temple to Temple relay is an event originally designed for BYU-I students, faculty, alumni and their families that began at the Rexburg Temple and ended at the Idaho Falls Temple, totaling 39 miles. As a result of Covid-19, the 2020 race will be virtual with options for participants to run solo or in teams. 

 STEP 1: Register & Share With Friends!

 Once you sign-up, share the race with your friends on social media to get a discount and make sure to register before June 13. We are cutting the date off to register to be able to order medals and t-shirts sooner for those who want them, but you will have the whole month of June to run. 

 STEP 2: Plan Your Virtual Race

 The best part of a virtual race is that you can do it anywhere, anytime! Plan ahead to avoid crowding and traditional heavy run times, such as Saturday mornings.  You have between June 1 and June 30, 2020 to complete your race. 

 STEP 3: Race and Record

 Make sure to use your favorite tracking app and save your virtual race. We recommend the apps MapMyRun or Garmin. When you get your registration confirmation, there will be a link you can upload your results to see where you stand! 

 STEP 4: Share Your Experience

 Share photos on social media as you go. Be sure to tag us at #T2TRelay and #VirtualT2T! If you post pictures featuring a temple in some way in the background, you'll be entered to win prizes as well.  STEP 5: Get Your Swag

If you opted to get a T-Shirt and medal, let us know on the registration form if you would like that shipped to you or if you would like to pick that up at the BYU-Idaho campus. Swag will be delivered and available after the race period ends. 

Frequently Asked Questions 

Date & Time?

You may complete your chosen leg of the race any day between June 1 and June 30, 2020 at 11:59pm. However, registration closes June 13.

Where do I run? 

This being a virtual event, you have the freedom to run wherever you may live where it is permitted, be it on a trail or a treadmill. We encourage runners to plan ahead, avoiding days/times where your location may be overcrowded.

What is the distance? 

 There are options for those wanting to run with their friends in the original relay-race style, as well as those who prefer to participate individually.

Teams:

Total distance: 40 miles

 Teams of 8 runners may run 5 mile legs each

• Teams of 4 runners may run 10 mile legs each

Total distance: 20 miles

• Teams of 4 runners may run 5 mile legs each
• Teams of 2 runners may run 10 mile legs each

Solo Race:

Total distance: 5 miles

Total distance: 10 miles  

Will there be prizes? 

Because of the variables in dates, weather, elevation, etc, there will be no awards based on time/speed. There will be random prizes given out to those who post pictures of their race on social media.

In the spirit of BYU-I’s Temple to Temple races in the past, we challenge runners to finish your race at the destination of any Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint temple, stake center,  or church building near you where possible. We also invite you to be creative! Take a photo while somehow incorporating the temple. Feel free to reach out to Tyler at (210) 887-7057 to see what counts. What is the entry fee? 

The base price of being a part of the race + getting to print off a certification and bib is just $4! With the addition of T-Shirt and medal and registering before June 1, the price is $17. Registering between June 1 and 13 with the addition of the T-Shirt and medal will be $20. 

What should I track my race with? 

We recommend you use an app such as MapMyRun or Garmin, but you may use whatever works for you to track your time and distance. You can submit your results on the link in your confirmation email.
